Our Story
KnitHope began in 2008 when our founder, Dana Getz, took up knitting and wished to do something useful with the scarves she had made. Since then, we have collected over 14,000 hats and scarves for those in need in our Pittsburgh community.
Our Mission
Each fall we collect handmade hats and scarves and partner with local organizations to distribute them in time for winter. These items provide more than just physical warmth. They represent someone's time, effort, and care. We at KnitHope believe that regardless of one's situation, everyone deserves to feel valued and cared for.
How You Can Help
Knitting or crocheting a basic hat or scarf requires beginner level skills and inexpensive materials. People of all ages can make a difference by crafting from home and on their schedule!
